Christmas Gingerbread House


  1. 85g soft light brown sugar
  2. 30g golden syrup
  3. 30g black treacle
  4. 30g water
  5. 1tsp ground cinnamon
  6. 1tsp ground ginger
  7. 1/2tsp ground clove
  8. 100g melted butter
  9. 1/2tsp baking soda
  10. 225g cotswold plain flour


  1. Melt the butter and add the sugar, syrups and spices.
  2. Bring up to a boil 
  3. Let cool for 10 minutes 
  4. Add the flour and baking soda, mix well 
  5. Let chill for a couple of hours or over night
  6. Roll out to desired thickness, cut in to shapes and bake at 160 degrees for 5-8 minutes. 
  7. Once cooled decorate with royal icing

Royal icing

  1. 3x egg whites
  2. 600g icing sugar
  3. 1tsp lemon juice


  1. Mix all ingredients together until smooth
  2. Place in to a piping bag
  3. Decorate your gingerbread
